New label cuvees from Voirin-Jumel have arrived. Changes have occurred here, which will mean a slight hiatus in supply and price increases. Siblings Patrick and Alice have split directions and Alice has left the business taking half the vineyards with her. Patrick’s daughters, Julie and Pauline are slowly taking over the reigns and transforming the now smaller family business. So now we see new labels, packaging and more work in the vineyards to preserve and enhance terroir typicity and authenticity.

Champagne Voirin-Jumel L’Assemblage
This used to be the ‘Tradition’ cuvee. Based on 2021 with 44% perpetual reserve wines. 61% Pinot Noir and 39% Chardonnay. Dosage 6g/litre. The chardonnay comes from the clay soils of the Vallée de la Marne and chalk soils of the Côte des Blancs. The Pinot Noir comes from the clay terroir of the village of Verneuil, also located in the Vallée de la Marne. Wines cover several years of age thanks to the use of their perpetual reserve. This is a wonderful fresh Champagne with lovely citrus and hazelnut overtones with a touch of apricot.
Champagne Voirin-Jumel La V.1 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru
Based on 2021 with 44% reserve wines, from Cramant, Chouilly. Dosage 5g/litre. The Chardonnay terroir speaks, Chiseled and steely, with citrus and minerals, hints of white fruits and floral. Very precise and elegant as always and excellent value. The creaminess of the Cramant component sets the tone for a fine and elegant Champagne. Prices are up on this cuvee.
Champagne Voirin-Jumel Les Carelles Blanc de Noirs
Based on the 2020 vintage with 45% reserve wines, dosage at 5gm/litre is perfect. From a single .744 hectare Pinot Noir parcel in Mareuil-sur-Ay – Les Carelles. Mareuil-sur-Ay is Billecart Salmon territory, and here the Pinot is always delicate and subtle, with hints of strawberry and red fruits, perfume and spice. This 100% Pinot Noir Champagne reveals the purity and elegance of the terroir and competent winemaking. In the scheme of things, this wine is way underpriced even at the new price.
Champagne Voirin-Jumel La Saignee Rose
A short Pinot Noir maceration is made for this rose cuvee; this process extracts colour and aromas, before the fermentation stage. Only the best pinot noir grapes of the year are used. Often a vintage, this cuvee is particularly influenced by the harvest conditions. Vinifying this Rosé de Saignée is a choice of passion, a choice of the winemaker to play with the terroir and what it offers, to extract 100% of the plot’s potential. Dosage 5gm. Vintage 2022. LIMITED and sorry, only available in the 6 pack.
Champagne Voirin-Jumel 2015 Blanc de Blancs
From older vines Cramant, Avize and Oger terroir. Eight years on lees has added savoury toasty complexity. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tank. The real prestige cuvee in the range, with terroir on display. Chalk and sherbet, with purity and intensity. Dosage of 4gm/l and the malolactic fermentation is blocked (always for this cuvee).
Champagne Voirin-Jumel 555 Blanc de Blancs Vintage 2018
This cuvee is a selection of the best old vine plots of the Côte des Blancs. Vinified in older barrels. This is normally a blend across a few vintages, but occasionally, notable years of this cuvee are vinified as vintage and this is the superb 2018. The oak adds a layer of texture and subtle citrus. Hugely complex with the intensity of the 2018 vintage proudly on display. Dosage 4gm.
